A new idea has spawned. While Joomla is great, it lacks some of the features (and has some incompatabilities with) needed to become a truely 'Enterprise' platform. That's why we've started the project "Enterprise Joomla" or j_enterprise on joomlacode.com. We are looking for developers to join us in creating a truely scalable and stable version of Joomla! Any developers looking for more information, you can check out joomlacode.com, e-mail me, use my forums (for now... hint hint), or check out the topic in the Joomla forums. Keep an eye out for this project, it'll be something worth while... |

In this third installment of the All About Speed series, I'm going to discuss the effect of HTML on speed. Now, I know most of you are thinking how much effect does HTML have on load times. A LOT. We have already looked at the time it takes for content to be generated, and the time it takes for it to reach the end users computer, but what about the time it takes to render? A poorly formated HTML file can take SECONDS to load in a browser (if not more). Sure, it may display how you want it to, but what does that matter if the user has already gotten bored and gone to another page? |

Well, another version is here! This one adds two new features to the core. The first is that whenever the cache is cleared, it also clears the Joomla Core Cache. The second is support for loading modules into cached pages (through a special syntax). To do that, install or upgrade to Version 1.0.7, and then edit
your template file. Read more to learn how!

If you've visited the forums since Sunday morning, you've noticed a major change... Saturday night, I installed FireBoard on the site. I have got to say, these guys did a bang up job. It's SO much cleaner and more professional looking than JoomlaBoard was. Don't get me wrong, FireBoard still has some bugs and changes that are needed to be a full fledged forum, but it's definitely on its way! |
