Problem 2007/04/03 01:06 Karma: 0
Hi! (sorry for my bad english)

I have installed the component Page Caching.
All the installation and file modifications seem to be ok.
But when I visit whatever cached page... I just see strange characters like these ...

=r9g1BĴ"EmȶV3;1@vUDOW_17CGfb%) L woW=?!gg /XֻJò_^^:#vDBHqPϲN^sn-x])c]]X7ؖe!, dmJ3ޞ' :<y,a㳈l~yo bATX8MdaPƥ(V vXДǃRQ<{VtoEy4bz/ wx4h%>#7-U̫e42ITB'd,X.^K#կ&`9aD]J @urtvyśKrv59y{Se 9PsCK1CPqafSE-d8vIDqA7yy3SgzG5.PS Iz1ko@'|`kr¦!$6<ڧ#y djGaȡMrfʈ{%rDyKؔ@ .....and so on....

I have tried all... file,APC,Database...nothing works.
I have also noticed that the cache directory that I insert in the config is empty all the time. Although I can see files in the Cached Page Listing.

THX!!

Can you give me some more info about your install? What version of Joomla, php, MySQL? Any other pertinent information? What OS and Server?

Oh, and the cache directory will only populate when you select file storage.

This is my hosting info:
HOSTING LINUX
Apache.
PHP Version 4.4.4
More details: http://62.149.140.72/ver.php
MySQL 5.0.37

and I use Joomla 1.0.12
And in the ErrorLog of my site I don't obtain any error.

I have a manually modified index.php (I needed to modify it manually to integrate the JSMF Component).I don't know if that could be a problem.Anyway..in the instalation it says index,index2,index3 are modified OK...and all seems to be perfect.

Well, APC will not work, since you do not have APC installed. You said the directory is never written to. Is the directory writable by the server?

I just noticed something I didn't test. You have php running through CGI. I don't know if this is it, but it was never tested.

I think I found the problem. Try disabling page compression in Joomla. I'll try to find a workaround to support output page compression in Joomla.

It's true! That was the problem.
Now works perpectly. (Very good support! )

The loading times of wrapped pages or RSS feeds are amazing! Soooo fast!!!

I have a problem when I use this component and the mambot D4J Image Extended Plugin at the same time.
http://designforjoomla.com/joomla_extensions/free_joomla_extensions/d4j_image_extended_plugin.php

Then, the page layout is broken, the menus are placed at the bottom and I can see this line at the begining of each page:
Code:

 Generated in x,xxxXX Seconds '); self['popup_image_'+id].document.close(); }

Maybe it's only a problem of that mambot and it can't be solved. What a pity... I used it many times in my pages.

Anyway... this component is totally awavesome.
A must have!
Great work,dude!!

Thanks! I'll look into the plugin (don't really have time right now, but I'll look at it tonight). Also, if you want any extended reset functionality (For different components), let me know so I can make a plugin for it...

If you like it that much, feel free to post a review on the Joomla extension directory! (sorry, shameless plug).

Of course!.. I'll do it.
I have planned to review your component in extensions.joomla.org as I do with the good extensions I usually use.

With just a little difference... your extension is INDISPESABLE!

I have included my forum into the exclude list. So I don't know if I really need an extended reset plugin right now because I use bridges:
  • Bridge JSMF (for SMF forum)
  • Gallery2 Bridge.

  • Maybe I need ext.plugins for these components:
  • Jomcomment (free version)
  • Easy Book

  • But I think a good addon would be to reset the FrontPage's cache everytime a new Joomla article is added/published.

    CHEERS!

Well, default functionality (built in to the reset list) includes Adding, saving, publishing, unpublishing, applying, and deleting for the Joomla core. This includes just about everything in the core. I've the JomComment and EasyBook files, and am uploading them now. As for the JSMF and Gallery2, what functionality would you like to see? reset on new posts? new comments (g2)? It would be easier if you gave me a link to an install, so I could pull the info I need from the page rather than digging through other's source code...
