Well, the core of the component is functional!!!  There's absolutely nothing fancy in it yet (unless you consider the ability to run NATIVELY in both 1.0 and 1.5 with the same package fancy)...  It's caching pages on my testbed as we speak.  Here's some REALLY initial performance data with nothing but Sample data installed...

  • Joomla 1.0.13
  •         Average Uncached Time (without component) : 0.08 seconds
  •         Average Cached Time (with component) : 0.04 seconds

  • Joomla 1.5.0 RC1
  •         Average Uncached Time : 0.13 seconds
  •         Average Cached Time : 0.012 seconds

Things left to do

  1. Everything
  2. Build MANY modules (right now, the only modules built are the backends)
  3. Build Administration section
  4. Build installer
  5. Beta Test

This component is absolutely essential for running a highly trafficked Joomla site and keeping the page loads snappy. Keep up the great work!! smilies/grin.gif

Hi ircmaxell

these numbers looks amazing for a beta version.

Can you explain briefly why it does reduce the page load time by so much with joomla! 1.5.0 RC1? Is it purely related to the new code behind joomla! or your component?

i mean already reducing by half is very good, but to got from 0.13s to 0.012s, that a huge difference.

this should be part of the core of joomla!, not a TPD component.

again, thanks again for this.

just a thought: multi tasking or browsing multiple sites become impossible anymore. CPU, bandwidth, page load are so fast that we are back doing one thing at the time, because we, humans, are the slowest between all the elements of the equation. smilies/cheesy.gif
