Well, since there are several reviews floating around out there, I've decided to post a few of them Alledia - "Its not often that a brand new, really useful and completely free Joomla component comes on the scene. Ircmaxell has managed that with his Page Cache component." Mambohut - "So far we're seeing a 90%+ decrease in page load times in the cached pages." BuyHttpd - "We’re using about half of the server resources today that we were using yesterday. That’s a pretty impressive decrease." Joomla Weekly News - "I'll be honest and say that I was pretty sceptical that any extension could really do what this one claimed to do, reduce page load times to a fraction of their current times, but it does!" Extensions.Joomla.OrgI - "I have a very slow connection and the difference is very obvious for me. For example, a wrapped page in Joomla loads in 11seconds.... with this component it loads in 0.31sec!!! Amazing!!"
Pathos-Seo.com - It blew me away… Seo For Joomla - I consider this one as a “must have” for the sites I build in Joomla. Try the component, if you like it, keep it, if not… you probably did something wrong

Well, my host (for my VPS) is kicking me out! They said that my server consumes WAY to many resources for the others on the server. During the past few days, my server was averaging around 100 requests per second. So, I just purchased my new server. It's an IBM x335 series I picked up off lease for $700. It's a dual 2.4ghz Xeon server with 2 gig ECC ram, and dual 36gb SCSI 10k RPM hard drives in a RAID 1 array. I am planning on using CentOS Linux on this server. In the coming weeks, I am going to detail my transition from VPS to dedicated server as it happens. Once the server goes live, this site will be switched over to its new home! I'm going to detail the decisions I made up to this point in this article. |

Page Cache version 1.0.6 has been released. A few new features were added in this version, as well as a few low and moderate level bug fixes. A few of the new features include: - Support for different languages in the administration section. Simply edit language.page_cache.php (and e-mail me the file, so others can benifit).
- Support for mod_page_cache! This module will display a button to clear the cache on the header in the administration (near the logout link). This button will work for any user who has access in the back end (so managers can reset the cache when they make changes). Managers will not be allowed into any other configuration window however.
